Civil War Carving

In the Civil War section of the cemetery stands a magnificent 10-foot tall statue of a Civil War soldier. Chainsaw sculptor Gary Keenan created this striking tribute from a tree that was infected with a fungal disease and needed to be taken down. Interestingly, the tree was over 200 years old, meaning that the soldiers it now watches over would have seen it during their lifetimes.
